Dear friends of UN Women Austria!
The World faces multiple challenges since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Especially for women and girls the pandemic is deepening preexisting inequalities, exposing vulnerabilities in social, political, and economic systems. A high burden of unpaid domestic and care work, with women performing more time and care intensive tasks and the exponential increase in gender-based violence are only two out of many examples. Michele Ribotta (UN Women Representative to Albania) will give us insights on the multiple challenges women in Albania face due to the pandemic.
The virtual Round Table on “The Impact of COVID-19 on Women’s Lives in Albania” will take place on Tuesday, 27. April 2021 at 6:00 p.m. (UTC +2) as a Zoom video conference.
The social and economic impact of COVID-19 on women’s lives and livelihoods is far-reaching. The coronavirus outbreak has major consequences for the wealth of women and their job situation. There are effects concerning their spending power, challenges seeking health services, unequal share of unpaid care and domestic work. Special attention is given in the Round Table to the impact of Violence Against Women and Girls.
