Dear friends of UN Women Austria!

According to UN Women statistics every 3rd woman worldwide is still confronted with violence, and 3 in 5 women report that sexual harassment in public spaces has worsened since Covid-19. Civil rights activist, social entrepreneur and Nobel Peace Price Nominee, Amanda Nguyen, has been fighting for the civil rights of sexual assault and rape survivors since 2014. Confronted with the flaws of the criminal justice system following an assault in college, Amanda Nguyen decided to take action, change the law and empower other rape and sexual assault survivors. She founded the non-profit organization Rise, with which she helped to draft and pass the Sexual Survivors’ Bill of Rights in the US Congress. Since then, Rise has created civil rights protection for more than 93 million people by initiating and incubating over 40 legislative reforms in the US and around the globe.
